Return to Junior Sailing Program

Sailors with little or no experience enjoy learning basic sailing skills in the Pirate dinghy. Participants progress through three different levels outlined by the Canadian Yachting Association: White Sail Level I, Level II and Level III. Two or Three students per boat keeps this introductory course fun, safe, and socially rewarding.

White Sail I and II

Based off the new CYA course curriculum sailors are able to learn course topics which include terminology, knots, safety, and how to sail at all points of sail by means of games and activities both on and off the water. By the end of this 1-week course, students will be able to comfortably sail a small sailboat on their own! On the last day of the course, students go on a sailing adventure around Bowen Island.

White Sail I, II 2010 course dates:

White Sail III

Sailors upon completion of White Sail II are able to expand their basic sailing skills in the Pirate dinghy. Two students per boat keeps this introductory course fun, safe, and socially rewarding.  By the end of this 2-week course sailors will get their hand and trying both skippering (steering) and crewing, while continuing to grow more comfortable sailing a small boat.
