Youth Keelboating

Youth keelboating covers the skills required to cruise safely by day in local waters as either skipper or crew of a sailing cruiser of 20-30 feet, in moderate winds and sea conditions. This course is a great way to get into sailing if you plan to buy a small keel boat, spend time sailing on a friend's or wish to join WVYC's J22 Club, a sail-share program.

This course offers a unique chance for youth to work closely with a CYA certified instructor, with a maximum ration being four students per instructor. Bring your friends and learn to cruise the beautiful coastal water of the North Shore!

Upon successful completion of the course students will be award the CYA Basic Cruising standard and their Canadian Coast Guard accredited Pleasure Craft Operators Card. For more information on the J22 Club click here or contact the Sailing Director. To ensure that a course can be held and that a suitable number of students/crew are present it may be combined with an Adult Keelboating course.
