CANSail 6

CANSail 6 students further refine the boat handling skills learnt in CANSail 4 & 5 and increase their capacity to perform in race-like situations. Other topics include tactics and racing strategy. By the end of the course, sailors will be able to race competitively at the local sailing level. Students may use a variety of boats throughout theis course including the J22 keelboat and the 29er skiff. It is highly recommended that students also participate in Commodore's Cup Race Week at the end of the summer. CANSail 6 is a 3 week course and sailors are also highly encouraged to join the North Shore Sailing Team.

CANSail 6 wil be taught by an experienced racer and CYA certified race coach under the direction of the Sailing Director. For more information please contact the WVYC Sailing Director.

CANSail 6 (including Chutes and Wires 2)

This three-week course is taught in the Laser (single-handed) and 29er (double-handed) dinghies. CANSail 6 is a racing-intensive course designed for athletes to experience both high performance skiff and Olympic class training and racing. The skills acquired in Chutes and Wires 1 will be progressed with training on asymetrical spinnakers and faster boats. Sailors will also get a chance to participate in Keelboat sailing and racing should the schedule permit. WVYC is the only school in greater Vancouver to offer CANSail 6 as a three-week course.
