In the Pirate and Flying Junior dinghies, sailors will learn the basics of sailing on all points of sail. Students will progress from handling boats in crews of 3 to managing them in crews of 2. Basic racing components are included in the program and sailors gain a firm base of theoretical knowledge and practical experience preparing them for more complex skills in subsequent levels.

Three progressive levels form the base of the CYA's new CANSail model:

• CANSail 2 - White Sail II/III
• CANSail 3 - Bronze Sail IV

CANSail 1 - White Sail I

This course allows sailors to learn the basics of sailing the double-handed (two-person) Pirate dinghy. Boat handling, safety and sail trim are a few of the many components taught in a socially rewarding environment.

CANSail 2 - White Sail II/III

In the double-handed Flying Junior dinghy, sailors will refine their basic skills as both skipper and crew. Students begin to understand how to make boats sail quickly and efficiently.

This two-week course emphasizes boat speed and maneuver efficiency while introducing students to a racing environment that emphasizes technical accuracy over results.
