WVYC Cruising Destinations

contest-Winner

The West Vancouver Yacht Club has the best access in Metro Vancouver to cruising  on the West Coast. The WVYC outstations are conveniently located within 39 nautical miles of the Club - perfect for a weekend destination or a stop-over as part of a longer cruise. They are located in Elliott Bay, Kendrick Island, Pender Harbour, and Telegraph Harbour and each one has its own special character and recreational features.

  • The signature outstation at Elliott Bay is the most developed and popular, and only 10 nm from the Club’s home base.
  • Cruising the Gulf Islands? Kendrick Island, 22 nm away, at the mouth of Gabriola Pass, is a natural refuge of wildflowers and arbutus trees.
  • Our newest outstation facility at Telegraph Harbour is 35 nm from the Club and has all the amenities you would expect in a marina. It is 15 nm from Kendrick Island and the distance from the Club via Porlier Pass or Gabriola Pass are virtually the same.
  • If Desolation Sound or Princess Louisa Inlet beckons, the Club’s joint marina operation in Duncan Cove, Pender Harbour is a day's cruise away, or about 39nm away from the Club, which puts you in the heart of that water based community, and can also be a stepping stone for points north.
  • It is a short 15nm from Kendrick Island to Telegraph Harbour.

There is some special scheduling in effect for this summer at Telegraph Harbour, so  please read this important information before your visit.

So whatever the direction or length of cruise, a safe convenient port is available to the members of the West Vancouver Yacht Club.

The Club has many affiliations with reciprocal clubs up and down the BC and Washington Coast, even as far as Hawaii. Arrangements for each club differ; contact ahead of time is advised.  Reciprocal privileges are not extended to outstations.
