| Dock Master Routine |
ELLIOTT BAYContact club office to sign up 1. Familiarize yourself with the Outstation Regulations as outlined in your Club yearbook. 2. Check with the Club office on the Friday to determine if additional supplies are required and if so, arrange to pick-up (such as the flag, toilet paper, charcoal briquettes and fire starter) and take it with you. These supplies are normally located in the mast shed and access can be arranged through the Club Manager. 3. On arrival at the Outstation, tie up at the designated section at the head of "C" Dock, which is reserved for the Dockmaster. After that, be sure to take in the amazing view, say hello to your friends, take your pet for a walk, unwind and proceed to Step number 4. 4. In general, your duties are to keep an eye on things, keep the outstation tidy, note the condition of the docks and level of supplies, water the plants and assist others with docking. On arrival, or at the first opportunity, clean and disinfect the seats in the outhouses and sweep the floors. Keep the toilet and room clean. This encourages cooperation among users and reduces maintenance requirements. The toilet should be cleaned with soap and water (not disinfectant, which could harm the composting process). Clean the urinal the same way but flush it out each month with a cup of vinegar to dissolve accumulating salts. This should be done once on arrival and before leaving on Sunday . Aside from this initial cleaning, all that should be required is a daily sweeping. Toilet paper should be replenished as required. NO CHEMICALS OF ANY KIND SHOULD BE PUT INTO THE TOILETS AS THIS WILL INHIBIT OR STOP THE COMPOSTING PROCESS. IN CASE OF QUERY SEE THE TOILET MAINTENANCE MANUAL IN LOWER SECTION OF THE COMPOSTING TOILET. 5. Water the plant and tree barrels on the docks, utilizing water from the hose by the Dockmaster reserved mooring. 6. Keep the BBQ area clean and remove BBQ ash as necessary. Please note that a new ash pit has been created next to the generator shed where all ash is to be deposited. BBQ ash is not to be deposited into the water. 7. Note the condition of the floats, trails and the water system and bring any problems or concerns to the attention of the Club Manager. 8. Assist with docking. On busy weekends, rafting may become necessary and all members should be encouraged to cooperate. 9. Lock up all buildings when leaving. NOTE: The Dockmaster should elicit the cooperation of all members to maintain a standard of reasonable behavior at the outstation so that all guests can enjoy the peace and serenity of this location. Violations of Outstation Regulations should be politely drawn to the attention of the offending skippers but The Dockmaster should not get involved in the enforcement of the Regulations. Simply report the incident and the action taken and the Outstation Captain will deal with the issue with the Board of Directors. EMERGENCIES 911 Coast Guard VHF Channel 16 B.C.
