WVYC members support club vitality and in the Fall of 2010 voted in favour of restoration and expansion of the club for the long term benefit of members - a good example of the club’s progressive stance towards maintenance and renewal of assets
Other renovation and maintenance work in progress or recently completed:
2011
- The replacement of the 252' X 18' breakwater float at the Elliott Bay Outstation in early May significantly improved the dock plan at Elliott bay both from and enjoyment and saftey standpoint. This will leave the BBQ Float as the only float left for renewal. This to occur in 2014/15.
- The clubhouse renovation plans are nearing final draft and from their the permit process will begin. It is hoped to break ground in early October. See details below.
- The Learn to Sail group will see four pirates and two 420s retired and four new Flying Juniors come on line. In addition regular upgrades and motor replacments for our safety boat fleet have taken place .
- The marine elevator will see its quinquennium cable replacement along with other regular maintenance items.
2010
- The ongoing dock replacement plan saw the completion of the A west dock - this completes the four year A float renewal program.
- The eastern most finger at Elliott Bay was replaced in June 2010.
- Various improvements to the dinghy launching facilities were completed to accomodate the ever increasing Learn To Sail programs. The number of participants in the Child and Youth programs exceeded 500 this summer.
- In fall 2010 the membership supported a multi year capital plan to replace the breakwater at the Elliott Bay outstation, renovate and expand the Club House and to continue with a modified plan of dock replacements. Details about the Club House renovation program.
