Getting Involved

The West Vancouver Yacht Club has a very active membership. They provide vision and direction for the club, pilot major competitive events, and spearhead knowledge, intra-club, boating and environmental issues. Members also maintain the Club's beautiful outstations in pristine condition.

The WVYC encourages all of its members to enjoy themselves and to use the wonderful facilities that we are all so proud of - without a doubt one of the finest facilities on the North Shore.

While the day-to-day operation of our facility is handled by competent, knowledgeable staff there is always an opportunity for those members who would like to get involved. And what a better way to get to know your fellow members? Don't know how to do something? We'll train.

Committees of all shapes, sizes and direction always welcome a new face   but there are many other areas that you may wish to contribute and really the sky's the limit.   In the club's history members have done countless things: rebuilt docks, repaired the audio system, made BBQs for the outstations , organized the retail sales at Southern Straits, performed major grunt work in building the Yachting Center and in the finest naval tradition "polished up the handle on the big front door".

Every year spring and fall our outstations are spruced up or prepared for the winter with a member work party. A great way to meet your fellow members and be proud of your club.

So? got a talent? Got a desire to get involved? See something that needs doing? Can you provide a service at a saving to the club? Come on down. Contact the General Manager at the Club office (604) 921-7575.

Opportunities, Club activities are about opportunities for members to enjoy their Club. Surf further and find one that fits you. No activity to your taste? Remember many of the activities that are an everyday part of your Club came from a member or group of members saying “let’s do ???”. The choice is yours, join us, get involved or sit on the dock and watch the Club go by.
